02/06/2021 – En forçant une nulle rapide avec les Blancs contre Kateryna Lagno, Zhansaya Abdumalik a obtenu le ½ point qu'il lui fallait pour s'assurer la victoire en solitaire, une ronde avant la fin, dans le Grand-Prix de Gibraltar. La jeune Kazakhe n'a par contre pas tous les atouts en main pour s'assurer, au général, une place qualificative pour le tournoi des Candidates. Tout dépendra du résultat de la partie entre son adversaire russe du jour et Mariya Muzychuk. Lagno est obligée de gagnée avec les Blancs pour terminer au deuxième rang final des séries du Grand-Prix. Abdumalik échouerait alors à la 4e place. Mais toute autre résultat entre l'Ukrainienne et la Russe, qualifierait Abdumalik, grâce à une troisième finale. En effet, Aleksandra Goryachkina, qui ne peut être rejointe en tête de ce classement, est déjà qualifiée pour le Tournoi des Candidates en sa qualité de vice-championne du monde. 31/05/2021 – Zhansaya Abdumalik enchaîne les victoires dans le Grand Prix féminin de Gibraltar. Dimanche, lors de la huitième ronde, c'est Alina Kashlinskaya qui a dû concéder le point complet à la Kazakh de 21 ans. Mariya Muzychuk n'ayant obtenu qu'un match nul contre Nana Dzagnidze, Abdumalik possède désormais un point d'avance en tête du classement à trois journées de la fin sur Mariya Muzychuk, qui partage maintenant la deuxième place avec Gunay Mammadzada, l'Azérie ayant battu Kateryna Lagno. | Photo: John Saunders

26/05/2021 – Grâce à sa victoire contre l'Azérie Gunay Mammadzada, l'ancienne championne du monde ukrainienne, Mariza Muzychuk rejoint le duo de tête composé de la Kazhacke Zhansaya Abdumalik et de la Russe Kateryna Lagno. 22/04/2019 – Après deux rondes, Carlsen fait le plein avec les Noirs et reste ainsi seul en tête! Face à Vallejo Pons, il démontre une fois de plus sa redoutable endurance en finale. Keymer, son jeune adversaire d'hier, opposé à l'ancien champion du monde Anand, n'a cette fois pas fait illusion avec les Noirs. Svidler l'emporte contre Naiditsch en profitant avec maestria d'une miniscule faiblesse dans la position Blanche. Quant à MVL, il annule avec les Noirs contre Caruana, de même qu'Aronian contre Meier.
